How to shrink a video for your screen

Each video can be up to 95 MB. A well-compressed 1-minute Full HD video weighs 30 to 60 MB and looks just as sharp on the TV.

On a computer (free)

  1. Download HandBrake from handbrake.fr (free, for Windows and Mac).
  2. Open it and drag your video in.
  3. Under "Preset" choose "Fast 1080p30" (or "Fast 720p30" if it is still too big).
  4. Press "Start Encode" and upload the new file.

On your phone

  1. Install a video compressor app (search "compress video" in the app store).
  2. Choose 1080p or 720p quality.
  3. Save the result and upload it from Photos and videos.

The ideal video for a screen

  • MP4 format (H.264).
  • 1080p for large TVs, 720p is enough for small ones.
  • Short: 10 to 60 seconds work best in a shop.
  • No sound needed: the screen plays it muted.
